Well, I logged on today in Akiainavas. I had flown here late last night to give some assistance to a Newbro who was having trouble with one of the tutorials. Yes, technically this means I have visited every system between Renyn and Akiainavas, but I have not written about them yet so it doesn't count. A single School of Applied Knowledge station spins in the distance, but like other systems geared towards new players, Akiainavas is fairly quiet otherwise. Despite having 56 other people in local at the time, I am unable to find anyone in the belts except a Guristas Despoiler. Emboldened by my earlier successes in dealing out great justice, I roll in to attack. As I near engagement range, I am reminded of the awfulness of ECM as my targeting sensors go dead. Still, I persist through jam cycles, frantically pumping my small armour repairer to keep my ship alive as my blasters vainly try to penetrate to armour before my foe can once again jam me. Lacking any beacons to explore in the system, I decide to stay and fight.
God ECM sucks. A stalemate ensues, the Guristas scum unable to break my armour tank, but each time it enters low shield, I am hit with repeated ECM cycles. Finally, a second Newbie Ship appears on scan and takes aggro. Together, we are able to start bringing down the vicious pirate. I watch with bated breath as both the Ibis and the Despoiler tease from frantic shield boosts into armour, unsure which one would fall first. With the Despoiler still holding steady in mid armour, the Ibis flees as it hits structure, and ECM is once again on me, cycle after cycle. Finally, I am able to lock again, just long enough to see the shields of my target nearly full.
I convo my impromptu wingman, and he assures me that he will bring a better ship to assist and, true to his word, a Merlin pops onto my overview. Suddenly, the Despoiler is tragically outgunned. Justice wins again.
I thank my wingman, and decide to check out the services of the station. Hopefully it has dancers.
If you have read this already, and are considering continuing to read, I will be looking into getting an RSS feed set up at some point. Also, if you have not played EVE:Online but would be interested in it, you can be a total dude and check it out using my referral link here: EVE 30 Day Trial. As a money grubbing whore, I will also mention that if you wish to donate isk to help fund this venture you may do so by donating to Vilhjalmur Stefansson in-game. I will give a shout-out to any character donating over 100 million isk, and any character donating over 100 million ISK will also get to name my ship for a day (nothing which will get me banned will count as a ship name)
